Your roof is covered three ways.

Your roof’s warranty comes from GAF, not just from us. We register a GAF Silver Pledge™ Limited Warranty on every roof we install, so GAF stands behind the materials and the installation. Our own guarantees sit on top of it, not underneath it.

Warranty

Covered three ways, all in writing.

GAF Silver Pledge™ is backed by GAF.

The materials are covered for 50 years non-prorated, including labor, removal of the old roof, and disposal. GAF also covers installation errors for 10 years, and backs the repair if a contractor can’t make it.

Our workmanship guarantee goes on top of GAF’s.

Lasts 20 years, on top of GAF’s coverage. If something we did isn’t right, we come back and fix it, with no argument about whether it’s technically a covered defect.

Our satisfaction guarantee and how we treat your home.

Materials and labor are only part of the job. How we treat your home, your yard, your neighbors, and your time is the rest of it, and we guarantee that too.

Who stands behind it

Two backers, not one.

A contractor’s own warranty is only as good as the contractor, which is why your roof has two backers. The Silver Pledge is GAF’s promise to you, issued by GAF’s warranty company and registered in your name. If an installation error surfaces in the first 10 years, GAF stands behind it even if a contractor is no longer in business.

Our own workmanship guarantee sits on top of that and lasts 20 years. If something we did isn’t right, we come back and fix it, and we plan to be here to do it.

Algae and wind

Black streaks and high winds, covered too.

Algae. GAF Timberline HDZ® Shingles carry a 25-year StainGuard Plus™ Algae Protection Limited Warranty against the blue-green algae that cause black streaks. Timberline UHDZ® Shingles carry the 30-year StainGuard Plus PRO™ version. The protection comes from copper granules that release slowly over decades, so your roof should stay clean without pressure washing.

Wind. We fasten every Timberline HDZ® shingle with six nails and install GAF starter strip at the eaves and rakes. Installed that way, GAF covers the shingles against wind up to 130 mph.

StainGuard Plus™ and StainGuard Plus PRO™ coverage applies only to products sold in packages bearing those logos. For complete coverage and restrictions, visit gaf.com/warranties.

Check us

Only certified contractors can register it. Check us.

GAF certifies contractors in tiers, and the tier decides which warranty you can actually be given. Only GAF Certified Plus™ and Master Elite® contractors can register a Silver Pledge. GAF checks our licensing, insurance, experience, and standing every year.

Don’t take our word for it. Call GAF Contractor Services at 877-423-7663 (option 2, then option 1), or look us up with GAF’s contractor locator. We’d encourage you to check every contractor you talk to.

If something goes wrong

If something goes wrong, call us first.

Claims Call us first, even years later

01

Call us

Call 610.347.3000 in Pennsylvania or 302.302.2400 in Delaware, or book online. Whoever answers owns it from there, so you won’t be passed around.

02

We come and look

We inspect the problem and photograph it, so you see exactly what’s going on.

03

We sort out the warranty

If it’s our workmanship, it’s on us. If it’s a material defect, we file the GAF claim with you.

04

We fix it

We make the repair and put it in writing, like every other job.

GAF needs its own notice of a claim within 30 days of you noticing the problem. Telling us isn’t the same as telling GAF, so we’ll help you send it.

Keep it valid

What keeps your warranty valid.

Don’t pressure wash it.

It strips the granules that protect the shingle, and it can void the coverage.

Keep the attic ventilated.

GAF doesn’t cover damage from inadequate ventilation, which is why we address it on every roof.

Use a qualified roofer for repairs.

Repairs or changes by an unqualified contractor can void coverage.

Don’t fasten things through the shingles.

Satellite dishes and antennas nailed through the roof can void coverage.

Never add a second layer.

Shingles installed over this roof later void the system warranty.

Make sure it’s registered.

An unregistered warranty covers nothing. We register yours for you.

Not sure whether something will affect your coverage? Call us before it happens, not after.

FAQ

Questions about warranties.

Still have a question?

Ask the people who’d do the work. Call 610.347.3000 in Pennsylvania or 302.302.2400 in Delaware.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

What does “non-prorated” actually mean?

It means the coverage doesn’t shrink as the roof gets older. Most warranties are prorated, which means the manufacturer’s share drops every year, so by year fifteen a “lifetime” warranty might pay twenty cents on the dollar. Under the Silver Pledge, a covered material defect in the first 50 years is covered for the reasonable cost of materials and labor. No sliding scale.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Yes, once. The new owner notifies GAF in writing within one year of the sale and shows they own the home. A transfer in the first 20 years keeps the full coverage. After that, the new owner gets two years of coverage, prorated for wear. It’s a real selling point at closing, and we’ll walk you through it.

What is a GAF Certified Plus contractor, and why does it matter?

A contractor can install GAF shingles and still not be able to offer you real installation coverage. Certified Plus requires verified insurance, licensing, years of experience, good standing, and ongoing training, and GAF rechecks it every year. It’s what lets us register the Silver Pledge.

Who registers the warranty, me or you?

We do, within 45 days of the install, and GAF sends you the documents. If you haven’t received them within 60 days, call us. An unregistered warranty is the most common reason a homeowner finds out years later that they aren’t covered.

What does your own guarantee cover, beyond GAF’s?

GAF covers its materials, and the Silver Pledge covers installation errors for 10 years. We go further in two places manufacturers don’t touch. On workmanship, if something we did isn’t right, we come back and fix it, with no argument, which is why our workmanship guarantee lasts 20 years. On satisfaction, how we treat your home, your yard, your neighbors, and your time is the rest of the job, and we guarantee that too.

Is there a warranty against algae streaks?

Yes. Our standard GAF Timberline HDZ® Shingles carry a 25-year StainGuard Plus™ Algae Protection Limited Warranty against blue-green algae streaks, and Timberline UHDZ® Shingles carry the 30-year StainGuard Plus PRO™ version. Coverage applies only to products sold in packages bearing the StainGuard Plus™ logo.

What about wind?

We fasten every Timberline HDZ® shingle with six nails and install GAF starter strip at the eaves and rakes. Installed that way, GAF covers the shingles against wind up to 130 mph.
